Understanding Huntington’s Disease and Its Impact.

Huntington’s disease is a rare, inherited neurological disorder that progressively affects the brain’s nerve cells. Over time, it impacts movement, cognition, and behavior. Symptoms typically begin between the ages of 30 and 50, but they can appear earlier or later. As the condition advances, it may lead to involuntary movements, difficulty with speech and swallowing, and changes in mood or personality. Because it’s a genetic condition, it runs in families, and anyone with an affected parent has a 50% chance of inheriting the faulty gene.
